TLA to host an evening with author Norman Bacal
On May 3, the Toronto Lawyers Association (TLA) will host an evening with Norman Bacal, author of Breakdown – The inside story of the rise and fall of Heenan Blaikie, which details the rise and fall of one of Canada’s preeminent law firms, which, at one point, boasted over 1,100 employees, and featured such luminaries as former prime ministers Pierre Trudeau and Jean Chretien, former Quebec premier Pierre-Marc Johnson, and former Supreme Court of Canada justice Michel Bastarache on its letterhead.
Bacal was national co-managing partner of Heenan Blaikie until a year before the firm's collapse in February 2014.
Bacal will be in interviewed by National Post journalist Drew Hasselback, and then entertain questions from the audience.
The event, moderated by Mark Gannage of the TLA board of directors, will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m., with registration at 5:15 p.m., in the TLA Lawyers Lounge, located on the 2nd floor of the 361 University Avenue Courthouse in Toronto.
Wine and appetizers will be served, and copies of 'Breakdown' will be available for purchase for $30 cash (including HST).
