Cohen to discuss Canadian surrogacy law at ABA webinar
Toronto fertility lawyer Sara Cohen will share her insights on recent surrogacy law-related changes in Canada as part of an upcoming webinar, hosted by the American Bar Association (ABA).
On June 29 from 3-4:30 p.m., Cohen, founder of Fertility Law Canada at D2Law LLP, will join fellow panelists to present “Commonwealth Babies: International ART Update Across Borders.” Speakers will explore recent changes to international assisted reproductive technology (ART) law in Australia, Canada and the U.K. and address possible changes in the wings.
Topics on the agenda include: recent surrogacy-related changes in Canada and the U.S; U.K. changes to allow single intended parents to obtain U.K. parental orders subsequent to international surrogacy arrangements and proposed ART law reform in the U.K.; and a groundbreaking Australian judgment which allows the registration of U.S. surrogacy orders and defines commercial surrogacy for the first time.
