Cohen speaks at fertility conference
Toronto fertility lawyer Sara Cohen spoke at the Canadian Fertility & Andrology Society’s Gatekeepers Dilemma 2018 conference on Jan. 26.
Cohen, founder of Fertility Law Canada at D2Law LLP, addressed the legal implications for fertility doctors in choosing whether or not to allow the transfer of mosaic embryos, which refers to embryos found to possess both normal and abnormal cells during preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) testing.
The one-day symposium, held at the Hilton DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Toronto, highlighted the controversies and questions that arise when considering the mosaic embryo, says the website for the conference. It also focused on the consequences and risks surrounding such embryos.
Cohen is one of several professionals who spoke during the conference, and the only lawyer.
