Steve Rastin, managing partner with the Barrie, Ont. firm Rastin & Associates, focuses on personal injury law.
He graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in medieval studies, before earning his Doctor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario.
For more than 20 years, Mr. Rastin has focused on personal injury law, including motor vehicle accidents, product liability, long-term disability, slip-and-fall accidents, and dog bites.
He has appeared before all levels of the court, including the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.
As a past president of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, Mr. Rastin advocated for accident victims and lawyers on a variety of court reform initiatives.
He speaks at legal conferences aimed at educating both lawyers and health-care professionals and is the author of various legal publications and reference materials.
In addition to his legal work, Mr. Rastin has been president of the Rotary Club, chair of the Huronia District Hospital Board, chair of the Ministry of Health's Simcoe-Muskoka Hospital Network, and a member of the Police Services Board.
Mr. Rastin is a member of the Ontario Bar Association and the Advocates’ Society, and received his call to the bar in Ontario in 1995 after attending law school at Western University.
