Douglas Beamish, partner with the Toronto firm Basman Smith LLP, focuses his practice on family law and estate litigation.
Mr. Beamish has more than 35 years’ experience in all aspects of family law litigation, including custody and access to children, child and spousal support, domestic contracts, property division, cohabitation and separation agreements, as well as matrimonial issues with respect to corporate transactions, and partnership and trust interests.
In addition to family law, he has experience with estate litigation, including issues concerning the validity of wills and trusts, variation proceedings and support claims of dependents.
While Mr. Beamish makes every effort to resolve disputes by negotiation, he also has experience at all levels of court in Ontario and with mediations and arbitrations.
Mr. Beamish graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 1975. He obtained his law degree in 1978 from the University of Ottawa and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1980.
He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association.
