Cathi Mietkiewicz, founder and principal of Mietkiewicz Law in Burlington, Ont., focuses on corporate governance and compliance.

She graduated from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology in ophthalmology in 1991 before earning her Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2009. Ms. Mietkiewicz was called to the Ontario Bar in 2010.

Ms. Mietkiewicz advises regulators, associations and other not-for-profits on their governance, government relations, bylaws, policies, contracts, privacy, and other issues that affect daily operations as well as helping clients develop regulations, policies, bylaws, and standards of practice.

In addition, Ms. Mietkiewicz has acted as a board member, regulator, and regulated health professional.

Prior to her legal career, she was an optician and served five years as the president of the College of Opticians of Ontario.

From 2014 to 2017, Ms. Mietkiewicz served on the board of directors of Mohawk Shared Services. She is secretary of the board of the Oakville-North Burlington PC Riding Association.

Ms. Mietkiewicz chairs conferences on professional regulation and has lectured and presented on regulatory compliance and board governance.
