McLeish Orlando LLP co-presenting 'Practical Strategies for Experts' event
McLeish Orlando LLP, as a member of PIA Law, is presenting the bi-annual 'Practical Strategies for Experts: Testifying Without Fear' conference in Toronto on Oct. 20.
The one-day conference for experts, health-care professionals and those who may be called to testify, is designed to enable participants to develop and enhance techniques for providing expert testimony, improve confidence and avoid embarrassment in court.
Speakers will also educate delegates about the technical requirements of Examination in Chief and Cross Examination, provide insight on how to handle difficult cross examinations, provide strategies for court preparation and help delegates become more effective witnesses.
From 8:40 – 9:10 a.m., Toronto critical injury lawyer John McLeish, partner with McLeish Orlando LLP, will present a session entitled “The Law of Expert Evidence and Report Writing,” where he will discuss the structure of the report, use of legal terms and understanding causation.
From 1:15 – 2:30 p.m., Toronto critical injury lawyer Patrick Brown, partner with McLeish Orlando LLP, will take part in a trial demonstration, featuring an examination in chief and cross-examination of a life care planner.
And, from 3:30 – 4:15 p.m., Toronto critical injury lawyer Dale Orlando, partner at McLeish Orlando LLP and co-chair of the event, will moderate an ‘Ask the Experts’ panel, featuring an open forum for discussion and Q&A.
The conference will run from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at The Carlu, located at 444 Yonge St., 7th Floor, in Toronto. Registration fees are donated entirely to the PIA Law Educational Bursary Fund.
