Hull to discuss SLRA at Osgoode family law program

Toronto trusts and estates litigator Ian Hull will share his expertise on dependant claims under the Succession Law Reform Act (SLRA) at an upcoming family law program hosted by Osgoode Professional Development.

On Oct. 5 from 10 – 10:45 a.m., Hull, co-founding partner of Hull & Hull LLP, will present at the 5th Annual Recent Developments and Complex Issues in Child and Spousal Support program.

Hull will discuss quantifying proper support in larger estates, balancing multiple claims against the estate, and whether a surviving spouse has a duty to become self-sufficient.

He will also examine whether spousal and child support guidelines play a role, what impact do domestic agreements have on dependants’ support, s. 72 assets and the expanded definition of “estate”: insurance, joint assets, and other non-estate assets, as well as ethical and professional considerations in representing dependants or estate trustees.

The event will run from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Osgoode Professional Development, 1 Dundas St. W., 26th Floor, in Toronto.
