Hull, Popovic-Montag to discuss will challenges, estate planning

Toronto estates and trusts lawyers Ian Hull and Suzana Popovic-Montag will share their expertise on estate planning issues involving elderly clients at an upcoming program hosted by Osgoode Professional Development.

The 2015 Guide to Advising the Elderly Client is a practical and intensive two-day program, set to take place on Nov. 4 and 5 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Speakers will explore best practices and practical approaches, and aim to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of current and emerging issues in this evolving body of law.

On Nov. 4 at 10 a.m., Popovic-Montag, managing partner of Hull & Hull LLP, will discuss will challenges, including strategies for dealing with undue influence leading to will changes, whether the concept of the lucid interval still exists, how to manage deathbed changes and how to protect your client.

On Nov. 5 at 2 p.m., Hull, co-founding partner of Hull & Hull LLP, will present a session entitled ‘Pre-empting the Money Fight: How Advanced Planning Can Avoid Estate Litigation.’ Hull will discuss how to ensure the client understands the capacity and estate planning issues, conferences and communication with the testator’s family, planning for the transition from independence to incapacity, avoiding planning pitfalls and misunderstandings and what to do if there is dissent.

The program will take place at the Osgoode Professional Development Centre, located at 1 Dundas St. W., 26th Fl. in Toronto.
