“The specific manner of injury is often generalized in use of force investigations despite some detailed information from emergency medical staff and examiners,” he says.
The courts continue to limit police officers, engineers and medical professionals from giving opinions about injuries and biomechanics in the policing environment, Desmoulin says. An injury biomechanist, however, can properly address issues of biomechanics in the policing context, he adds.
