CPD webinar to focus on real estate tax issues

Toronto tax litigation lawyer David J. Rotfleisch is hosting a webinar via, where he shares his expertise on the tax implications lawyers may encounter when dealing with clients’ real estate issues.

While real estate practitioners do not need to have the answers to clients' tax questions, they do need to be able to recognize when there is a tax issue, and direct their clients to seek the appropriate income tax advice.

During the 45-minute seminar, Rotfleisch, founding tax lawyer at Rotfleisch & Samulovitch Professional Corporation, will outline the tax issues that can arise in every real estate transaction, even the simple purchase of a residential unit. The bulk of the course will be devoted to discussing the Income Tax Act, but Rotfleisch will also cover the Ontario Land Transfer Tax Act as it applies to corporate transfers, and the Excise Tax Act for the issue of GST/HST on renovations.

He will also explore questions such as whether a purchase qualifies as a principal residence, or if it is a rental unit, how should ownership be taken?

The webcast is accredited for 0.75 Ontario CPD professionalism credits.

The course is being offered for $89 plus tax, including handouts. For more information, click here, or preview the webinar here.
