Waddell to discuss legal ethics in the context of class proceedings at CBA-FLSC Ethics Forum

Toronto class-action lawyer Margaret Waddell will share her thoughts on legal ethics in the context of class proceedings and contingent fees at the Canadian Bar Association-Federation of Law Societies of Canada Annual Ethics Forum on March 6, 2015.

Waddell, a partner at Paliare Roland Rosenberg Rothstein LLP, will join a panel of experts discussing the importance of, and ethical concerns surrounding contingent fees in class proceedings and personal injury matters, and how this fee structure impacts on access to justice and the delivery of legal services. Traditional thinking around the duty of loyalty, confidentiality and privilege, reasonable fees and the roles of the Law Society and the court are not easily transposed to this context. The panel discussion will take place from 1:15 – 2:45 p.m.

The forum will run from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Ontario Bar Association, Salon 1, 200-20 Toronto St. in Toronto. For more information, click here.
