Deliscar to present webinar on ethics for legal translators, interpreters
Brampton lawyer-linguist Suzanne Deliscar will present an upcoming online seminar in partnership with eCPD Webinars, aimed at providing linguists with an overview of ethical issues of a legal nature that could affect the smooth operation of their commercial activities.
On Sept. 15, "Colouring within the Lines – Ethics for Legal Translators and Interpreters,” will cover topics such as: the role of the legal translator and interpreter within the legal system, how to know whether you are helping your clients or engaging in the practice of law, avoiding becoming a dupe for unscrupulous or unaware clients, and discovering new services to justifiably add to your portfolio.
The webinar will include hypotheticals and interactive role-play to demonstrate the types of ethical situations that both legal translators and interpreters can face, and how to successfully resolve those issues.
The program will begin at 10 a.m. EDT, and will run for approximately 60-70 minutes, plus Q&A.
