Lawyer presenting to health professionals in coming month

Kinesiologists and dentists will have the chance to better understand regulations and the impact of complaints from Toronto health lawyer Elyse Sunshine at two separate industry events in the coming month.

Sunshine, partner at Rosen Sunshine LLP, will be speaking at the Ontario Kinesiology Association’s annual meeting in London, Ont. on Oct. 19. The topic of her presentation, Recent Cases and the Implications for Professional Regulation, will look at case law and how it impacts their practice.

“As kinesiologists are newly regulated in Ontario, this presentation will help kinesiologists understand the regulatory framework in which they now must practice,” says Sunshine. “It will highlight some of the most important cases impacting health professionals over the past year and the implications for practising kinesiologists.”

Sunshine says the presentation will provide useful tips for avoiding, “medico-legal difficulties and risk management strategies.”

In addition, on Sept. 24, Sunshine will present at the annual general meeting of the Canadian Dental Protective Association, an organization mandated to help dentists protect their rights to practice, about the anatomy and impact of a complaint.

“This presentation will overview the regulatory complaint process and provide tips and strategies for avoiding complaints,” says Sunshine. “Using real-life cases, dentists will learn how to avoid common pitfalls that result in complaints to their regulatory body.”
