Lippa to chair criminal law program for paralegals

Toronto paralegal Marian Lippa will chair an upcoming Law Society of Upper Canada ‘Paralegal Practice Basics’ program, aimed at outlining strategies for the effective handling of criminal law files.

At the May 31 event, which integrates basic legal concepts with practice management tips from mentors, Lippa and fellow panellists will discuss the steps involved in a criminal law file, in order to give attendees a solid understanding of the process, from the initial meeting with the client to appearing at trial.

Speakers will also provide guidance on topics such as managing your practice more effectively, obtaining timely disclosure and understanding how to elicit valuable information during preliminary hearings and pre-trial conferences.

In addition to chairing the program, Lippa will also participate in a session from 9:05 – 9:40 a.m. entitled ‘The First Steps.’

The event will run from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Donald Lamont Learning Centre, located at 130 Queen St. W. in Toronto, or via live webcast.

The program is eligible for 2 hours 30 minutes of Substantive and one hour of Professionalism CPD content.
