Matas to speak at OBA’s upcoming privacy summit
Toronto civil litigator Anna Matas will take part in the Ontario Bar Association’s (OBA) upcoming Privacy Law Summit 2018.
The event, which will focus on privacy and access to information law, will be held on April 12 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the second floor of Twenty Toronto Street Conferences and Events, 20 Toronto St. and via live webcast.
Matas, a lawyer based in the Toronto office of Lerners LLP, will moderate a discussion entitled “Developing Issues and Recent Decisions Affecting Your Clients.”
The panel will cover the following:
- Solicitor-client privilege in privacy commissioner investigations: Unpacking the Supreme Court's decision involving a provincial privacy commissioner and a university.
- Essential update on privacy class actions and civil torts.
- Lawful access — balancing court order compliance and cooperation with law enforcement against privacy obligations.
