Phillips to share insights on medical cannabis use and privacy at work

Toronto employment lawyer Amelia Phillips will host a webinar for employers and employees on medical cannabis use and privacy at work.

Phillips, associate with MacDonald & Associates, says employees who use medicinal marijuana have a reasonable expectation of privacy, and there is no general law in Ontario that requires an employee to disclose the use of medical cannabis to their employer.

“Workplace policies that automatically discipline employees for not coming forward and disclosing disability-related cannabis use or cannabis addiction may be discriminatory. However, there are instances in which employee disclosure of medicinal cannabis use to the employer is required by law,” Phillips says.

The presentation takes place on May 3 at 11 a.m. EST.

Participants can submit questions during the session or in advance via email.
