A Sheriff in western Michigan says an inmate tried to escape from a courthouse on Monday, took a gun from an officer, and killed two bailiffs and two other people. Police shot and killed the inmate.
Some inmates at a North Texas lockup broke out of a cell to help save a jailer after they saw the armed guard lose consciousness. Surveillance video from a courts building in Weatherford showed part of the June 23 incident.

U.S. President Barack Obama says he is "horrified" at the Dallas attack on law enforcement, and those responsible would be held "fully accountable."

Emergency services say at least one person is dead and about a dozen others suffered minor injuries in a massive house explosion in Mississauga. One home was destroyed and two dozen others have varying degrees of damage.
