Toronto Lawyers Association: Joan Rataic-Lang

How the legalization of cannabis can affect your practice. Thursday, January 24, 2019, 5:15-7pm.

Going beyond the changing of laws and culture, on Thursday January 24, 2019, from 5:15-7pm, the TLA's first Nutshell CPD Seminar of 2019 will instead focus on how cannabis legalization can affect your practice.  Followed by a wine (only) & cheese networking event, this evening will help you prepare in a very real way for this lifestyle and legislative shift.

Whether you are

  • a criminal lawyer in need of a primer on new roadside testing;
  • a leasing lawyer who could use some guidance on how legalization will impact commercial and residential leases; or
  • a corporate lawyer who would like to know how legalization will impact the business world,

the TLA has you covered.

Our multidisciplinary panel of lawyers will give you the "quick and dirty" on ways legalization may impact your practice that you may have not considered. Our speakers:

  • Annamaria Enenajor of Ruby, Shiller, Enenajor, DiGiuseppe;
  • Rachel Goldenberg, Content Lawyer (Employment Law) at LexisNexis Canada Inc.;
  • Chad Finkelstein of Dale & Lessmann LLP
  • Audrey Loeb, Shibley Righton LLP
  • Alice Tseng, Smart & Biggar; and,
  • Matt Maurer, Vice-Chair Cannabis Law Group, Torkin Manes LLP, as moderator

will bring their expertise to try to tease out what to expect and how to prepare for what is to come. This program contains 1 hr and 45 min of Substantive Content.

To make things even easier, exclusively for TLA members, we offer a $449 CPD Unlimited package.  For the price of only five Nutshells, get all your CPD at the TLA in 2019. Choose from a variety of practice areas. Some conditions apply. Please see our website for full details.

A tailored attitude to CPD is what a TLA Nutshell is all about: anticipating, meeting and exceeding our members’ needs. TLA Nutshells run in the evening, generally last a couple of hours, and offer CPD credits in a collegial, informal atmosphere. Our seminars are designed, written and presented by professionals from the Toronto legal community.

We invite you to check out our spring line-up for other upcoming seminars, or watch your email inbox for our TLA Update every Tuesday for the latest in TLA educational and social events. Avoid disappointment and be sure to join us for what are always interesting topics and great conversations whatever the occasion.
