TLA brings you "Build a Better Articling Student," starting with Court Orientation Tours
Building on a highly successful 2016 start to articling season, the TLA is reprising its series of Nutshell seminars aimed at helping students make the leap from law school to law office starting with Court Orientation Tours.
In the first year there was an almost overwhelming response to this simple idea; "Let's bring groups of students unfamiliar with the downtown courts on a tour of the 3 University Avenue Court Houses, while answering questions they didn't know they had" for example,
- "How do I find the correct court room?"
- "How do I sign in?"
- "Where are the Court Lists kept"
- "Do Judges/Masters go through the list in numerical order?"
- "Where do I file documents?"
... questions in previous years students had to learn on the fly, or by following other lawyers on trials.
There are 2 tours left to go; Thursday August 17 and Tuesday August 22nd, and they are free of charge to Articling Students who are members of the TLA (pssst, membership is free). Complete details and registration forms are available through the link above. Don't wait to register your students: group size is limited, and the spots are filling in quickly.
Help your students start off on the right foot, give them a head start. For further Nutshells in this series, or for more on this topic, please go to our website, www.tlaonline.ca and look for our Education & Events tab.
