Are you a law student looking for an articling placement?
The Federation of Ontario Law Associations (FOLA) has a new page on our website just for you!
FOLA represents Ontario’s 46 Law Associations (plus the Toronto Law Association) which, collectively, represent nearly 12,000 practicing lawyers in private practice in firms in each judicial district throughout the province.
If you are looking to article in a small law firm, these law associations are a great resource! And FOLA has contact information for each and every Law Association President arranged by region. Based on conversations with lawyers in smaller firms and/or in small cities and towns across Ontario, the number one suggestion for learning who may be accepting articling students is to get in touch with the Law Association President in the area in which you'd like to work and ask them if they know of any openings and if they'd be willing to meet with you and/or accept your resume to forward to their members. So this is definitely a list you want to leverage.
We also have contact information for each courthouse librarian and tips and suggestions for reaching out and for preparing for your interviews. If you have any content that you think would be helpful for your fellow law students, please do let us know! Feel free to contact Katie Robinette at email@example.com
Good luck, future lawyers!
