Sureties pledge to supervise those on bail, says Neuberger

In a story about the alleged Eaton Centre shooter's court appearance, Toronto criminal lawyer Joseph Neuberger tells the Toronto Star that people who are on bail under conditions of house arrest are usually required to be in their home 24 hours a day, with certain exceptions.

Neuberger says the exceptions are usually  to and from work, education or if there are any medical emergencies. Read Toronto Star Story

Sureties are responsible for those under house arrest. “When people sign on to be a surety, they pledge to supervise,” says Neuberger.
