LSUC certifies Simpson as intellectual property law specialist

Toronto intellectual property lawyer John Simpson has been certified as a specialist in trademark and copyright law by the Law Society of Upper Canada.

Simpson has more than 10 years of experience guiding clients, with a practice focussed on trademark copyright, and licensing law. He is also an experienced litigator in all areas of intellectual property.

The Certified Specialist Program assists members of the public and the
profession by recognizing lawyers who have met established standards of experience and
knowledge in certain fields of law and who have maintained a high standard of
professional practice.

Simpson is now one of just 32 trademark lawyers and 33 copyright lawyers with specialty designations in all of Ontario.

“This is exciting news for me and the firm," Simpson, principal of IP and new media law boutique Shift Law tells AdvocateDaily.com.

When he obtained his law degree from the University of Western Ontario, Faculty of Law in 2003, Simpson was one of the original graduates of the Information and Technology law program.

As well as sitting on the editorial board of the Canadian Intellectual Property Review, Simpson is a member of the Toronto Intellectual Property Group and the Ontario Bar Association.
