Criminal defence lawyer and owner/operator of Broadview Law Chambers, Aaron Harnett's practice focuses on a variety of criminal cases in the trial and appellate courts of the Toronto area.
Mr. Harnett was called to the Ontario Bar in 1992 after obtaining his Bachelor of Laws degree from Queen's University Law School and his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto. He has practised exclusively in the area of criminal law.
His notable cases include what is considered the landmark decision legalizing medical marijuana by the Ontario Court of Appeal in R. v. Parker; the striking down of provisions governing the searches of law offices (s.488.1 of the Criminal Code) in the Supreme Court of Canada’s R. v. Fink; and the murder trial in the death of Toronto police officer William Hancox.
Mr. Harnett is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Criminal Lawyers Association. In addition to individuals facing prosecution, his clients include companies facing criminal and quasi-criminal investigations.
