Kevin Fisher joins Gardiner Roberts LLP as partner
He tells AdvocateDaily.com his litigation practice hasn’t changed much since moving from Basman Smith LLP, but says joining Gardiner Roberts gives him “more opportunities to support my clients in all their needs."
Fisher acts for a broad range of clients across several industries before all levels of court. He has significant experience in complex commercial matters before the Commercial List court including for the appointment of Receivers and Managers, oppressive conduct applications, fraud investigations, securities fraud, debtor creditor and insolvency matters, contract and shareholder disputes and real estate development matters.
He has also successfully represented clients in numerous private arbitrations.
Fisher has an extensive litigation background acting for employees in wrongful dismissal and employment matters, including federally regulated industries under the Canada Labour Code.
He has developed a substantial intellectual property practice before the Federal Court of Canada in which he assists his clients in the protection of their copyrights and trademarks, particularly in relation to television broadcasts for live and pay-per-view sporting events, computer software, Internet-based programming and other media.
“There’s a larger litigation team at Gardiner Roberts and more people practising IP litigation as well,” Fisher says. “There's more support here in terms of other aspects of the legal practice — particularly corporate and real estate.
“Working with a larger litigation group with a broader range of specialties will only benefit clients,” he adds.
