Small Claims Court - Q&A with Deputy Judges. Sept.19, 2017, 5:15-7:30 pm

One of our most popular Nutshells from previous years is back this September with "Smalls Claims Court - a Q&A with Deputy Judges", Tuesday September 19, 2017, from 5:15-7:30pm. More than any other court, representing clients here gives lawyers, articling and LPP students an opportunity to cut their teeth on courtroom practice, and to sharpen their skills in advocacy and negotiation.

This year the three judges we will have speaking include, Administrative Deputy Judge Laura Ntoukas, Deputy Judge Gina Papageorgiou, and Deputy Judge Lynn Wheatley, all of the Toronto Small Claims Court. Moderating will be Justice Mark Gannage, also a Deputy Judge in the Toronto Small Claims Court, and a TLA Board Member.

Past attendees made great use of the opportunity to gain valuable insights and practical tips for a Court that may be a significant part of your practice, or that of your Articling Student or newly called associates. Questions ranged from best practices unique to a Small Claims Court, to learning about the perspectives of judges working so closely and directly with the public.

This evening's Nutshell has been approved for CPD: 1 hour and 45 minutes of Substantive content, and 30 minutes of Professionalism content

This tailored attitude to CPD is what a TLA Nutshell is all about. TLA Nutshells run in the evening, generally last a couple of hours, and offer CPD credits in a collegial, informal atmosphere. Our seminars are designed, written and presented by professionals from your community. Join us for great conversation and get your questions answered. Please see our website for all our upcoming events.
