Zibarras demands apology from Mammoliti

A music festival organizer is demanding an apology and a retraction, after a Toronto city councillor used a recent tragedy to spread “false, misleading and defamatory statements” about the company, alleges Toronto lawyer James Zibarras in a letter quoted in MetroNews.

Two people in their 20s died after apparently consuming drugs at Veld Music Festival held recently at Toronto’s Downsview Park. According to the article, Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti alleged event organizers INK Entertainment, and INK chief executive Charles Khabouth, were partially responsible for the deaths “due to their negligence and poor security measures.”

In a letter to Mammoliti, Zibarras, partner with Brauti Thorning Zibarras LLP, demanded a retraction and apology this week, or legal action will be pursued, reports MetroNews.

“Your irresponsible actions do very little to serve the public and have, in addition, now exposed the taxpayers of Toronto (and you) to the expense of a large and costly lawsuit which it can ill afford,” says Zibarras.
