Cherniak named Lawyer of the Year
High-profile Toronto lawyer Earl Cherniak, who specializes in ADR, has been included in the prestigious 2013 Lawyer of the Year round-up, compiled by Best Lawyers.
Cherniak, partner with Lerners LLP, was recognized for his work across a number of areas in addition to his ADR practice, including appellate law, administrative and public law, corporate and commercial litigation, securities law and more. Specifically, his work in insurance law was singled out for the accolade, which is given to one single lawyer per practice area in a designated metropolitan area.
In 2011, Cherniak was given the same honour for his ADR work.
"Lawyers being honoured as Lawyer of the Year are selected based on particularly impressive voting averages received during the exhaustive peer-review assessments we conduct with thousands of leading lawyers each year," the Best Lawyers' website states. "Receiving this designation reflects the high level of respect a lawyer has earned among other leading lawyers in the same communities and the same practice areas for their abilities, their professionalism, and their integrity."
For more than three decades, Best Lawyers has been publishing the world’s premier guide for the legal profession, its website states. In 2009, Best Lawyers began designating Lawyer of the Year in the U.S., and has since extended the honour to many other countries.
